The genesis of the faculty was the year 1963 when the Department of Drawing and Technologies was established at Siauliai Pedagogical Institute. Over time, the faculty was expanding, the number of students was increasing; study programmes were changing and developing.
In 2001 by the decision of the Senate of Siauliai University BA and MA studies of music were moved to the Faculty of Fine Arts.
At present the faculty runs four departments:
- Department of Fine Arts
- Department of Design
- Department of Music
- Department of Theatre
At present the faculty of arts has 576 students. Faculty's staff - 7 professors, 30 assoc. professors, 29 lecturers, 18 assistants.
The Faculty of Arts is an integral part of cultural life not only in Siauliai city but also Siauliai region and northern Lithuania. The professors and students of the Faculty of Arts constantly take part in exhibitions in the city and Siauliai region. Their works represent Lithuanian culture and art abroad as well.
The artistic collectives and performers are regular participants, Grand Prix, Merit Prize winners at international festivals and contests. The outstanding BA graduates continue MA studies at SiauliaiUniversity, Vilnius Art Academy and at universities abroad.
