52 Foreign Students will study at Šiauliai University in Spring Semester
52 students from higher education institutions arrived to Šiauliai University for the spring semester. University academic community welcomed 38 exchange students from the following countries: Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Ukraine, Turkey and Switzerland. The biggest number of the students arrived from South Korea (9), Georgia (5) and Turkey (5). 20 students are Erasmus+ students, other 18 students – exchange students coming to Šiauliai under inter-institutional cooperation agreements. 5 students arrived from Sri Lanka for degree studies. 8 students from Ghana and Guinea will study one semester in joint-study programme with Pardubice University “Regional Development and Governance”.
On February 2 the first meeting with all international students was organised. The Senior Specialist of Department of International Programmes and Relations Ieva Grušaitė presented Lithuania, Šiauliai and studies at Šiauliai University to international students. Students were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Studies Dr. Remigijus Bubnys, the Director of Department of International Programmes and Relations Regina Karvelienė. During the first meeting foreign students met faculty coordinators, were introduced with ESN ŠU members (Erasmus Student Network at Šiauliai University), the dormitory rules, public order in the city and study process.
During the first week students will have excursion in the city, will visit the Hill of Crosses, participate in Pancake Tuesday events. They will also have Welcome Party in one of the clubs, will take part in various games and activities organised by ESN ŠU.
