Cooperation Agreement with Rajarata University Signed in Sri Lanka
During the official visit to Sri Lanka in October, the representatives of Šiauliai University – Vice-rector for studies Remigijus Bubnys and director of International Programmes and Relations Department Regina Karvelienė have signed a cooperation agreement with Rajarata University. Student and academic staff exchange possibilities were discussed in a solemn signing ceremony, as well as mutual participation in studies and scientific projects, conferences. The agreement opened wide range of possibilities to promote our university and study programmes among students in Sri Lanka, also, to encourage them for their first or second cycle studies at Šiauliai University. Our university was presented in studies exhibition, which was lasting for three days; Šiauliai University was the only university representing the European Union.
The opening of Šiauliai University Representative Office is one of the major plans that are intended during the visit. Delegates of Rajarata University are going to work there leaded by the director of VTL Management LTD Company Sarath Gunawardana. Students will be consulted and encouraged to study at Šiauliai University in the office. At the moment, one student from Sri Lanka is studying at our university (master's programme of Informatics). From the middle of October, one more bachelor's student is joining the community of Šiauliai University; what is more, at least three students from Sri Lanka are planning to study at Šiauliai University from February.
VTL Management LTD Company and EU fond foster the vision of Siauliai University. The ceremony of signing the cooperation agreement was broadcasted by the leading news of Sri Lanka and in all over the world by MTV T1 News. Television broadcast appeared twice: in English and Sinhalese languages.
